Coventry-based Indigo Retail Technology is a software and support company providing solutions to the retail, forecourt and convenience markets both in the UK and increasingly internationally. Working with the UKTI, Indigo is hoping to take its successful products and services to Canada and India.
Indigo provides EPoS (Electronic Point of Sale), card processing, CCTV, loyalty, media and store management systems using proprietary technology. Its range of products and services include INSTORE EPoS to help cashiers focus on their customers while the EPoS manages the sale; Insight, its customer research product; Indigo Media to playback video, music and advertising in store, and Indigo Services to help forecourt owners with maintenance, construction and compliance.
Indigo’s solutions are used primarily in petrol stations and convenience stores and are suitable for many retail and hospitality environments such as off-licenses, newsagents, cafes and bars.
Indigo plans to extend the success of its UK business internationally by creating close customer relationships overseas. The company already uses its understanding of its customers’ needs to drive product innovation and will replicate this in new territories.
By passing customer feedback straight into the product development process, Indigo already ensures a tight focus on customer business needs. Indigo also choose to work from Coventry as it provides access to the nation’s motorway network and the West Midlands region provides a high quality workforce. The company also has a site in Bromsgrove.

In a saturated market retailers compete heavily for consumers’ business and our technology helps all types of retailers compete by optimising stock levels and cash flow, offering revenue enhancing in-store promotions and minimise staffing costs with time-saving processes. For instance, our CCTV interface helps retailers minimise the threat of theft and fraud,” comments Billy Tank, MD of Indigo Retail.
Indigo’s focus on customers has helped it to build and maintain a client list that boasts household names like Shell, Murco and Budgens among many others. But Indigo’s success isn’t limited to these shores, following a successful trade mission with UKTI to Canada in 2009, the company announced a strategic partnership with Visualise Technologies.
“We have had great support on export and trade missions to new markets from UKTI. As well as building relationships with new contacts the insight provided to these markets and advice on how to trade have proved invaluable,” continued Mr Tank.
Looking forward, Indigo is developing new products including a new EpoS systems and card loyalty systems while aiming to capitalise on its success in Canada with expansion in to the Indian market.
