Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is one of the ten priority clusters specified in the AWM programme. ICT is important to the West Midlands for two reasons. Firstly, output from firms within the sector accounts for a significant proportion (6%) of regional output.
Second, as an enabling set of technologies, ICT supports almost all sectors of the economy. Hence, the creation of a dynamic and successful ICT cluster in the West Midlands will have a substantial knock-on benefit for the regional economy as a whole.
