ICT is important to the West Midlands for two reasons. Firstly, output from firms within the sector accounts for a significant proportion (6%) of regional output. Second, as an enabling set of technologies, ICT supports almost all sectors of the economy. Hence, the creation of a dynamic and successful ICT cluster in the West Midlands will have a substantial knock-on benefit for the regional economy as a whole.
