Birmingham Winners Call for Entries to ICT Awards

Two winners from the 2007 ICT Excellence Awards - logistics firm DPS Limited and virtual worlds agency Daden - are urging local technology companies to follow in their footsteps and enter the 4th ICT Excellence Awards sponsored by the West Midlands ICT Cluster. The awards honour the best technology companies region wide, and with an abundance of local talent in and around Birmingham, the area has a good chance of success.

Halesowen-based DPS Limited was honoured twice in the 2007 awards where it was named Overall Regional Winner and winner of the ICT Excellence in Innovation (Product) category for its pay-as-you-go software; designed to plan routes, schedule a company’s vehicle fleet and cut carbon emissions.

The 30-strong company, which operates globally, offers a wide range of specialised logistics support services including logistics consultancy, vehicle routing & scheduling software and in-cab control and monitoring systems.

Paul Palmer, CEO, encourages local companies to enter: “We are extremely proud of our award and make use of it all the time in sales presentations and customer communications. It has helped us commercially by strengthening our kudos in the market and raising our profile.”

Moseley-based Daden Limited was honoured in the 2007 awards where it was named winner of the ICT Excellence in Innovation (Service) category.

Daden Limited is a virtual worlds agency, www.daden.co.uk, and offers advice, consultancy, design and build services for companies looking to have an online virtual world. Daden is also the leading UK developer of Chatbots – the animated characters on information websites which talk to internet users.

David Burden, Daden’s Managing Director, encourages local companies to enter: “The award definitely boosted our profile and generated interest in the company. It also gave us credibility within our industry, helping us to gain official recognition for the work we’ve been doing.”

The free to enter awards recognise top technology companies for outstanding achievements to the industry, and the overall champion will be awarded £2,000. The winners will be announced during the West Midlands Annual ICT Conference on 20th November 2008, which is being held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Bickenhill, Solihull.

Categories in this year's awards include ICT Excellence Award for Best Innovative Service, Best Innovative Product, Best Added Value Service, Best Added Value Product and Best Knowledge Transfer, with an overall champion being selected from the winners of each of the five categories receiving £2,000. Nominations must be submitted by Friday 3rd October 2008.
