ICT Cluster Conference and Awards 2009

08/06/2009 - updated 27/07/2009

Do you want to find out how to really succeed in this challenging economic climate?   Do you feel your team need some recognition for all their hard work and effort?   Then read on as we reveal the details of the eagerly-awaited 2009 ICT Conference and ICT Excellence Awards.

Now in its 6th year, the conference is a gem in the ICT Cluster calendar.  It’s the largest event dedicated to the West Midlands technology industry, last year attracting a staggering 420 participants in 2008, so is not to be missed.

The purpose of this exciting event is to provide SMEs with unrivalled access to technology partners, thought leaders, business innovators and support organisations.  It’s also a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded individuals in the region.

This year’s inspirational theme is ‘Competing in the New World – Innovating your way to success’.  The event comprises a mixture of informative, practical workshops, interactive demonstrations and thought-provoking speakers.  The host, once again, will be the popular Stuart Linnell MBE (Broadcaster & Media Consultant).

Highlights include:
•    AM and PM Business, Technology, EU Funding and Public Sector work streams
•    Presentations on the opportunities and challenges facing ICT businesses today
•    Interactive demonstration session from ICT SMEs who have succeeded in the current climate, chaired by Peter Cochrane
•    An exhibition alongside the conference offering demonstrations of new technologies and how they be used for competitive advantage

Tickets are complimentary* so be sure to register as early as possible as spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  The event will be held once again at the National Motorcycle Museum on Tuesday 10th November 2009.

A highlight of the event will be the evening ceremony for the winners of the highly-coveted ICT Excellence Awards.  Success in the awards indisputably raises the profile of both the company and its products, helps boost sales and acknowledges the efforts of employees. All entrants also benefit from constructive feedback and advice from the judges.

The ICT Cluster is eager to recognise every size and type of organisation involved in ICT. There are seven categories for open entry, Rules & Criteria, FAQs and entry forms are now available.  Entry is open from early June 2009 to both private and public sector concerns, both within and outside the West Midlands region.  In addition there will also be a Chair’s Award for Excellence and an Overall Champion, awarded to one of the individual category winners.

The 2009 categories for open entry are:
•    ICT Excellence Award for Best Innovative Product
•    ICT Excellence Award for Best Innovative Service
•    ICT Excellence Award for Best Added Value Product
•    ICT Excellence Award for Best Added Value Service
•    ICT Excellence Award for Best Added Value Project
•    ICT Excellence Award for Most Improved Business
•    ICT Excellence Award for Best Knowledge Transfer Project

For 2009 there is now going to be an additional open entry award: Special Award - High Growth Potential Business 2009. The winner will have the opportunity to tap into the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and partners to obtain the advice and expertise it needs.

For the first time, attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the event using the technology of local success-story Rapide Communication. Rapide Communication was overall champion at the 2008 awards and is this year demonstrating their award winning messaging technology in helping the ICT Cluster to gather feedback on delegates’ perception of the event, to help it become even better next year.
